Burton Tasmanian agent was a competitive rower of note in Queensland before his weight of 150 kilos prevented him from participating in the sport he so passionately loves. The Burton EasyRider double was up to the job so for the first time Geoff was able to row with his son Jared (a promising schoolboy rowing for University Team under the coaching of Mark Mathis). How great that this boat design makes it possible for everyone to have a great rowing experience – from a lightwieght 12 year old to a 50 year old who thought his days of rowing were behind him . Geoff is well known in Tasmania for the many hours he puts in assisting school rowing programs and tells us he is so inspired he has lost 12 kilos! Good on you Geoff.

Our first racing eight is about to arrive in Australia. We are thrilled with the quality as you can see from the photos below. This one is headed for Tasmania.
Congrats to Roger Elliot who won the Grafton High School regatta in his Burton single scull. He raced in the Men’s Masters Handicap Single Scull division and it was raced over 1000m. Roger had a handicap of 31 which means he couldn’t leave the starting gates until the first rower was 31 seconds ahead. Which is a pretty impressive effort. He would have been puffed. Great job Roger.

Congrats to Rowing Australia and Ballarat Rowing Club for a wonderfully organised event. We were just about run off our feet with enquiries and met new people from all around the world. We took the opportunity to introduce both our new revolutionary non inflatable rescue and coaching boat and our new range of affordable outboard motors. Our multi-coloured single rowing scull, known affectionately as ‘the python’ drew a lot of attention as rowers considered the endless colour possibilities at Burton!
